The deadline for submission of abstracts is 15 November 2008.

Late submissions will NOT be considered.

ECO2009 Abstract Submission Instructions

  • The deadline for receipt of abstracts is November 15, 2008. This deadline will not be extended.
  • The submission fee is €40 per abstract - this should be paid at the time of abstract submission and no later than the abstract submission deadline of November 15, 2008.  If payment is not received by this date, abstracts will NOT be considered
  • Contact details of the submitting author must be provided as part of the abstract submission process.  All correspondence will be sent to the submitting author only.  It is the responsibility of the submitting author to forward any relevant correspondence to the presenting author
  • All presenters of accepted abstracts are expected to attend the Congress and pay the relevant registration fee
  • Submitting authors will be notified of the International Scientific Committee (ISC) decision in early 2009.  The ISC decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into
  • “Hot Topic” Abstracts will be offered for poster presentation. The deadline for receipt is 27 February 2009 - further details will be available on the Congress website from January 2009. It should be noted that the Hot Topic Abstract function is for very new research and is not designed as a way of submitting standard abstracts that missed the original abstract submission deadline.

Abstract Presentation - Important information

This year, for the first time, some oral presentations will be combined with Review Sessions, thus giving abstract submitters more opportunity to present their abstract orally.  Review Sessions traditionally comprise three invited lectures, each lasting 30 minutes. At ECO2009, Review Sessions will comprise two invited lectures but will also include two 15-minute oral presentations from selected abstracts.

If you wish your abstract to be part of a Review Session it must relate to one of the Review Sessions. The International Scientific Committee will decide which abstracts are appropriate for inclusion in each Review Session.  The dates and times of the Review Sessions can be viewed in the Scientific Programme.  Abstracts will of course also be accepted for standard Oral Sessions and Poster Presentations.

Poster Sessions will form an integral part of the ECO2009 Scientific Programme.  Poster Sessions will not conflict with any other sessions meaning that they will not be subject to competition from oral sessions.  Poster authors will be asked to stand by their poster during scheduled poster presentation times. Authors will be notified of the ISC review outcome in early 2009. Further presentation instructions will be given at this time.

Please note that the EASO Best Poster Prizes will be awarded at the ECO2009 Closing Ceremony and will be selected by delegate referendum.  Further information will be available on the ECO2009 Congress website and in the official Congress Programme Book.

Conflict of interest and Funding Disclosure

EASO encourages full disclosure of all relevant sources of funding in relation to abstracts submitted to this congress. If you wish to disclose a conflict of interest or funding, please provide specific details at the foot of your abstract.

Publication

Abstracts will be published in the congress Abstract Book which will be an official supplement of Obesity Facts, the European Journal of Obesity.  Obesity Facts is the official journal of EASO. A copy of the Abstract Book will be given to all registered delegates.

Confirmation of Receipt

Submitting authors will be sent an acknowledgement via e-mail to confirm that their abstract has been received. If you do not receive the acknowledgement within three days of your submission, please contact the Congress Secretariat.
