President-Elect - Professor Jean-Michel Oppert (2006-2009)

Jean-Michel Oppert graduated as MD with a specialisation in endocrinology and metabolism and holds a PhD in human nutrition. He is Professor of Nutrition at University Pierre-et-Marie Curie (Paris VI, Pitié-Salpêtrière Medical School) and his current clinical position is at the Department of Nutrition, Hôtel-Dieu Hospital, Paris.

He is member of the Board of the French Association for the Study of Obesity (AFERO) and of the Steering Committee of the IASO Physical Activity Task Force. He is also member of the European Diabetes Epidemiology Group (EDEG) of EASD and of the International Society for Behavior in Nutrition and Physical Activity (ISBNPA).

He stands on the Advisory Committee for the national campaign on physical activity and health, to be launched in 2004, in the framework of the French National Nutrition and Health Programme. He has been a member of the Executive Committee of EASO since 2000 as Treasurer, and was elected President-Elect in 2006. He will become EASO President in 2009.
