The OMTF has eleven members representing all regions of Europe and is chaired by Constantine Tsigos from Greece.

  • Gabriela Roman (Romania)

The principal objectives of OMTF are:

  1. To create a network of specialists in obesity management across the EASO member countries.
  2. To continuously monitor the situation in obesity management in the EASO member countries and prepare periodic reports for the EASO, IOTF, EU authorities and the WHO Regional Office for Europe on this topic.
  3. To suggest strategies for the implementation of effective obesity management systems which improve the care of obese patients. One important initiative towards that direction is the definition of criteria for Centres of Excellence (National Centres) for Obesity management.
  4. To implement education for obesity specialists in Europe in tight collaboration with the SCOPE program.
  5. To prepare European Guidelines on Obesity Management (with different focuses and targets).
